Swayback - Rhea Mills
Swayback was south of Rhea Mills and predated that community. It was located on the south side of the Jamison Branch, about one mile south of the Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church.
The name came from the old school house. When log school was built in 1853, the roof was not supported property and it sagged in the middle. The whole area became known as Swayback or Sway Back.
The Sway Back Methodist Church was started in 1848. It used the same building as the school.
