MRS. MARY BAXTER PASSES AWAY HERE WEDNESDAY.

Mrs. Mary Ella Proffitt Baxter, 76, life-long resident of Collin County, passed away at 1 o’clock Wednesday afternoon in Collin Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born March 23, 1885, the daughter of Frank Scott and Mattie Andrews Scott, and spent most of her life in the Bloomdale community.
She was twice married, her first husband, Bob Proffitt passing away in 1949. She was married to E. E. Baxter in 1956. Mrs. Baxter was a faithful member of the Davis Street Church of Christ, where funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, conducted by Glenn Bishop, Joe Burton of Dallas, and G. A. Dunn of Rising Star, with interment at Cottage Hill. Harris-Horn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers are: Wayne Scott, Ralph Scott, Michael Scott, Lynn Scott, Milford Thompson, Leonard Proffitt, Elmer Phillips and Jesse Pell.
Surviving are her husband; sons: Oscar Proffitt of Austin; Houston Proffitt, R-3 McKinney; Floyd Proffitt, Camp Polk, La.; five daughters, Mrs. Zelma Dillard and Mrs. Faye Alexander of McKinney; Mrs. Cleo Petty, Fort Worth; Mrs. Wanda Powell, Celina and Mrs. Iola Grissom, Denton; four brothers Neal, Wood, and Burge Scott of McKinney, Joe Scott of Prosper; three sisters, Mrs. Clint Lewis, Mrs. Silas Pell and Mrs. Al Jasper all of McKinney; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
