Monkey Run
Supposedly the name was given to a community where the kids threw rocks at passing travelers and then ran off. Someone said, "Look at the Monkey Run." There were a couple of communities named Monkey Run. When someone asked for directions, the answer was, "Down where the monkeys run." Southeast of Wylie near the Rockwall County Line was a busy road over the East Fork of the Trinity bottoms. The name was applied to that area. There is supposed to be a cemetery there. The area is also called Cliff.
