Capt. Roy Hall
Roy Hall was a son of Stuart Holland Hall. He was born in Collin County. His great grandfather was J. B. Wilmeth, one of the earliest settlers of the county. He grew up on a farm north of McKinney and attended the Wilmeth School. He was a columnist for the McKinney Daily Courier Gazette for which he wrote 4 different columns: "Farming in Collin County--50 Years Ago;" "Way Back Yonder;" "Seen Around Town;" and "Over the Wing in Collin County." These columns kept him traveling around the county and recording the histories on different communities and families. He was a good story teller and wrote stories of various events that happened in the county as if he had attended the events. He also wrote for the McKinney Examiner newspaper for 15 years.

He died in 1970 and is buried in Pecan Grove Cemetery. Roy and Helen Hall co-authored the book COLLIN COUNTY:PIONEERING IN NORTH TEXAS. The McKinney library has been named the Roy and Helen Hall library in their honor.
