J. W. Moseley of Lake Dallas Passes Away
Funeral services for J. w. Moseley, 82, who died at his home in Lake Dallas, Texas Monday afternoon, were held at the First Methodist Church there Tuesday at 3 p.m. Rev. Fitzhugh Talbot, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Gainesville, nephew of the deceased, officiated. Interment was at lake Dallas, with nephews serving as pallbearers. Assisting ministers were Rev. Frank Wright, pastor at Lake Dallas and Rev. Jimmy Naugher, Baptist pastor there. Prof. Moseley, pioneer Collin County school teacher, was born in Delrose, Tenn., October 8, 1878. He came to Collin County in childhood and began teaching in county schools here while a young man. He taught in several rural schools before coming to McKinney where he was principal of the Fanny Finch (South) Ward School for many years. He was also former principal of J. W. Webb (East) Ward and taught in the L. A. Scott Junior High School before his retirement. He was elected County Superintendent of Schools, which office he held for several terms. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. J. W. Moseley of Lake Dallas; three sons, A. T. (Buzz) Moseley of Denton; W. H. (Pete) Moseley of Prosper; Rex B. Moseley of Fort Worth; three daughters, Mrs. Joyce Plumlee of Lake Dallas; Mrs. Jean Marcom of Fort Worth; Mrs. Leslie Jo Lowe of Tyler; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Talbot, Mrs. Lizzie Enloe and Mrs. Georgia Gray, all of McKinney; two brother, John H. Moseley of McKinney; Knox B. Moseley of Lewisville, and several grandchildren, nephews and nieces. His parents, three sisters, one brother, and a son, Marion Moseley, preceded him in death. |

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth M. Moseley, 75, of McKinney who died in a McKinney hospital will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the First United Methodist Church of McKinney with Reverend Lois Cooper and Reverend Ira Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Restland Memorial Park with Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in charge. She was born March 22, 1910 in Collin County, TX the daughter of Mort and Lillie Wilson Gantt and married Mr. Wendell H. Moseley, May 18, 1934 in Vickery, TX. Mrs. Moseley was a teacher and bookkeeper and a member of the First United Methodist Church of McKinney. Survivors include her husband Wendell H. (Pete) Moseley of McKinney; two sons Wendell G. Moseley of Yoakum and Jon C. Moseley of McKinney; two daughters, Mrs. George (Joycelaine) Angle Jr. of Grand Prairie and Mrs. Richard E. (Sharon) Johnson Sr. of Lampasas; one brother, E. L. Gantt of McKinney; two sisters Mrs. Irma Littrell of McKinney and Mrs. Anita Mack of Princeton; 10 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will be at the funeral home from 7:30 0 9 p.m. Monday evening. |
