Funeral services for Rev. William P. Carter, 76, of McKinney, who died Tuesday at a McKinney hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in McKinney with Dr. James Puckett and Randall Stevens officiating.
Interment will be in Pecan Grove Cemetery with Horn-Harris-Crouch Funeral Home in charge.
He was born May 28, 1908 in Athens, Ala., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Carter. he married Nona Loucile Swanner on Oct. 10, 1926 in Bethel, Tenn. He was a retired minister in Collin County for over 40 years. He was superintendent of missions for the Southern Baptist Association for nine years and an honorary member of the Collin County Baptist Association Board. Bro. and Mrs. Carter were presented with plaques of recognition of service to the Baptist churches in Collin County in 1977, and were also dedicated in minutes for the same year. He was a member of First Baptist Church of McKinney.
Survivors include three sons, Carlos Carter and Philip Carter, both of McKinney; James Carter, Dallas; one daughter, Mrs. Nell Harris, Celina; five brothers, three sisters, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 8-9 p.m. Wednesday night.
