JOHN HALL
Letter, 1994, Sandra Cummings.
John Hall b. @1780 VA
listed in th 1850 census as being 69 year of age and living in Meigs County, Tennessee with household: Delilah 48, Jessee F. 18, Joseph M. 17, William H. 13, Martha D. 9, Andrew J. 7
listed in 1860 census as being 80 years of age and living in Collin County, Texas with household: Delila (or Delilah) 58; J. F. 28; Martha D. 18; A. J. 17; and William H. 23.
Delilah (or Delila) Hall b @1802 in either VA or SC
living with John Hall both in Texas and Tennessee since at least 1850
Though there is a great age difference between John and Delilah, I assume that they are husband and wife, and the parents of the children listed above. William H. Hall (listed above) was half Indian (all of his children qualified for Indian land in Oklahoma), and oral family history has it that his father was a Native American (tribe unknown) who never cut his hair. If John Hall is the father, and not the grandfather, of William H., then John Hall was a Native American.
Our family had no information at all about the family of William Houston Hall (except for his birthdate in a family Bible and the fact that he was half Indian) until this year when we found him listed in the census reports cited above in the household of John and Delilah Hall — an exciting discovery.
Wm. H. Hall married and lived with his own wife and children in Collin County until his death on March 1, 1895 – he is buried in Fitzhugh Cemetery in Collin County.
It is believed that John and Delilah Hall lived out their lives in Collin County and are buried somewhere in Collin County. They probably died sometime between 1860 and 1890 or 1900.
