Funeral services for Ernest L. Dowdy, 83, who died Monday night at Wysong Memorial Hospital, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Horn-Harris-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Travis Maxwell officiating.
Interment will be in Pecan Grove Cemetery with Horn-Harris-Crouch Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Dowdy was a retired businessman and McKinney resident. He was owner and operator of Dowdy Produce Co. in McKinney where he was involved for 50 years. He was also involved in farming and ranching in Collin County for over 40 years.
After graduating from McKinney High School in 1920, he enrolled in Draghan’s Business College in Dallas where he studied business and accounting.
Mr. Dowdy was born April 19, 1902 in Franklin Community, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John William Dowdy, and married Marie Oliver, Jan. 28, 1930 in McKinney. Thee were married 55 years.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Dowdy of McKinney; one son, Paul Dowdy of McKinney; one daughter, Ann Dowdy of McClean, VA.; one brother, J. Russell Dowdy of McKinney; one sister, Mrs. Lela Wilson of Dallas; two grandsons, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Dowdy was preceded in death by one daughter, Ernestine Dowdy, in 1938.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
