Born at Culleoka, Tennessee, March 23, 1837; attended public schools in Tennessee and Alabama: married to Miss Mary Gillespie, March 26, 1861, six children.
Mr. Carothers moved from Tennessee to Ellis County in 1886, later to Sherman, and to Plano in 1903. He is a Confederate veteran, having belonged to the 19th. Miss. Regiment, Harris’ Brigade, Mahone’s Division, and Lee’s army; he was paroled at Appomattox Court House in April 1865. He is a member of the Methodist Church and during his eleven years of residence in Plano has made many friends.
