Harvey J. Harris came to McKinney from Waxahachie, Texas, in 1918. Harris had been part owner and operator of the Ford Automobile agency in Waxahachie before opening the Jackson-Harris Automobile agency in McKinney. Between 1918 and 1927, Mr. Harris sold Model “T” Fords and Ford tractors to many Collin County residents. Numerous area residents recall buying their first automobile from the Jackson-Harris Ford Agency.
Harvey Harris was married to the former Jimmie Frasure of Bardwell, Texas. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Harris were Rupurt G. Harris, Harva J. Harris and Dorothy Harris Bush. Dorothy Bush is married to William S. Bush, son of Mr. and Mrs. Will F. Bush, also former residents of McKinney.
While living in McKinney, Harris was an active member and deacon of the First Baptist Church. He also served as president of the McKinney Rotary Club.
The Harris family moved to Dallas in 1927, where Harris formed a real estate and insurance business with his brother Felix Harris. Harris remained active in the real estate business until his death in 1961.
