E. H. EDENS FAMILY
Biography
Elder E. H. Edens came to Wylie, Texas, in 1885, with his daughters, Mrs. Moses Andrews and her family and Miss Lelia O. Edens. Lelia O. married James W. Russell who was born in Wylie 1867. They married in 1892. Grandmother Edens died in Judsonia about 1875 and Lelia was raised by her sister, Mrs. Moses Andrews. Mr. Andrews was known around Wylie as “Uncle Jud”. Mr. Edens was of Scotch ancestry. He was a charter member of the masonic lodge at Judsonia, Arkansas, as was Mrs. Edens of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Edens was a McCauley before her marriage to E. H. Edens and many of the McCauley descendants still live around Judsonia, and Bald Knob, Arkansas. Two cousins came to Texas and at one time, Albert McCauley was sheriff of Collin County. Allen McCauley married one of the Powell girls of Wylie.
Three sons of Elder E. H. Edens settled at Wylie. George Edens, William Edens and Bob Edens. Bob ran a store at Parker for many years and died and was buried at Allen.
Elder E. H. Edens was born about 1825 in Tennessee. His wife was Mahala A. McCauley and they married in 1850. To this union were born the following children.
Sarah E. Andrews, 1851; Mary A., 1853; William E., 1854; Martha E., 1857; Susan V., 1858; James B., 1861; John F., 1863; George F., 1865; Robert W., 1867; and Lelia O. Russell, 1873.
