McKinney Democrat, May 25, 1934
Mrs. Henry C. Barnes, 87, for many years a resident of McKinney, passed away at her late home in Sulphur, Oklahoma, last (Thursday) morning at 11:30 o’clock, so relatives and friends in McKinney were advised.
Funeral services were held at the family home in Sulphur Friday afternoon, May 25, at 4:00 o’clock, interment following in the cemetery at that place beside the grave of her husband who preceded her in death several years ago.
The deceased was the mother of Mrs. R. C. Kimbrough and a sister of Mrs. D. C. Hill and Mrs. Lucy Dulaney, all of this city. She was also a sister of the late J. W. Field, prominent capitalist, who passed away in this city a few years ago.

Her daughter, Mrs. Kimbrough, and other relatives from McKinney will attend the funeral services Friday, accompanied by a grandson of the deceased J. W. Barnes Jr., of Fort Worth, and other relatives.
The deceased moved away from McKinney some twenty-five or thirty years ago.
The deceased was the mother of the late Joe W. Barnes, McKinney merchant for many years and city commissioner of McKinney during the administration of the late Mayor Henry A. Finch, Sr.
