JOHN JOHNSON, PIONEER CITIZEN, DIED WEDNESDAY

John Johnson died at his home, corner of South Tennessee and Davis streets in McKinney last week. He had been in ill health for a year or two and for several weeks his recovery had been known to be impossible.

Born in Missouri.
The deceased was born near Stewardsville, DeKalb County, Mo., March 8, 1859, hence he was 68 years, 2 months and 3 days old. He was the son of John and Polly (Kimsey) Johnson, who came to Texas from Missouri in 1861 and first settled in the old Mantua community in North Collin. Later Captain Johnson purchased land four miles east of McKinney on which is located the Johnson Cemetery.
