The book, A HISTORY OF NEVADA, TEXAS, by Grace (Moran) Evans, mistakenly says the Harris ranch was northwest of Nevada. It was northeast of the town. The cemetery is mentioned in the family section of the book with the Harrises on pages 313 and 314. These Harrises are listed as being buried in the Harris Cemetery.

James Harris was an early settler in Collin County. He went to California from Collin County in the Gold Rush. He came back with gold and started the bank in Terrell. At one time he was a large land holder with holdings near Terrell, Lavon, and Josephine. His land was unfenced and his cattle roamed free.
One of his grandsons, Sam Harris, was known as the biggest man in America. He was 6'3" and weighed 692 pounds. His ranch was north of the cemetery, closer to Cowskin. He was a fireman and lawman in Farmersville. He also traveled with a circus on occasion. He died in 1924 and is buried in the Farmersville Cemetery.
FM 1778 is known as the Copeville-Josephine Road. FM 547 is known as the Farmersville-Josephine Road. The cemetery is not listed in COLLIN COUNTY CEMETERY INSCRIPTIONS.
This cemetery has been plowed under and lost.
