DEATH’S SAD CALL.
At the home of his niece, Mrs. N. J. Leigh, on Saturday morning at 7 o’clock, “Uncle” Will Gough breathed his last. For several months he has been an invalid and suffered a great deal. In the war he received a wound in his side which caused a diseased body and suffering ever since, yet he has been a brave soldier, battling along through life almost without murmuring, bearing his sufferings and sickness with christian fortitude. He was kind and considerate to all with whom he was associated. He led a very quiet, unpretentious life– honest in all his dealings with his fellowman, ever ready to do the right thing at the right time and place. He has made his home with his niece, Mrs. N. J. Leigh for a number of years and led such a life in this community that never a word of censure passed the lips of any one about him. His burial took place Sunday morning at 9 o’clock at the Melissa cemetery and his funeral was preached by Rev. Davis of Plano, former pastor of the Presbyterian church here. A very large crowd of friends followed his body to its last resting place. His spirit has gone where his sufferings end and his body be made a perfect one, free from suffering and disease.
He expressed himself as prepared to meet his God and longed for that rest.
