Services for Melvin T., 56, who died Tuesday at his residence in McKinney, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow chapel with the Rev. Kelly Montgomery officiating. Burial will be at Ridgeview Memorial Park under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Directors.
Born Feb. 15, 1936, in Woodlawn, two miles northeast of McKinney, he was a general contractor in residential homebuilding for 35 years and a member of Melissa Church of God.
Survivors include his fiancee, Myrna Maxwell of McKinney; a son, E. J. Blasingame of McKinney; two daughters, Debra Stewart of McKinney and Vanessa Blasingame of Houston; his mother, Ellen Morgan of McKinney; stepmother, Mary Blasingame of McKinney; two sisters, Irene Strickland of Princeton and Dorthea Mills of McKinney; two brothers, Doyle Landers of Keller and Larry Landers of Princeton; two grandsons, John Blasingame of McKinney and Troy Stewart of McKinney; seven nephews, five nieces and several other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Buford Blasingame of McKinney, and a brother, Billy Ray Ford of McKinney.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
