COX FARM – 1858 – Two miles southwest of Celina

1974 Owner: Mrs. Wilma W. Cox, Dallas
Abraham Barnes wandered into Texas in 1858 and bought 172.5 acres for the production of cotton, corn, oats and grain. The present owner, Mrs. Wilma W. Cox, raises cotton and milo on the 86 acres in her possession., The deed giving title to Barnes had an unusual description. Part of it reads as follows, “thence south 30 chains to a rock on the south line of said original survey; thence west 28.74 chains to the southwest corner of said 172.5 acre tract.”
