Mendenhall Elementary - Plano
MENDENHALL ELEMENTARY (a.k.a. Plano Elementary School), 1313 E. 18th St., Plano, TX 75074
The graduating senior class of 1959 was the first class to graduate from the 6th grade at Mendenhall Elementary School. Ironically, that same class was the first class that did not have Mrs. Aline Mendenhall, called Miss Aline, as their first grade teacher. Their first grade teacher was Miss Ratha Berry, an innovative Dallas teacher loved by many of her students. To continue on with “firsts” the graduating senior Class of 1959 was the first class that did not graduate from the sixth grade at Plano High School (a.k.a. Cox Building, named for the beloved and caring janitor.)
