J. W. GREER PASSES AWAY AFTER TEN DAYS’ ILLNESS

McKinney citizens were grieved to learn Thursday morning of the death of J. W. Greer age 69 years, two months and four days, which occurred at his home in this city at 12 o’clock Wednesday night, June 9, after an illness of about ten days. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon in the chapel of the Sam J. Massie & Sons Understaking Company. in charge of funeral arrangements, conducted by Rev. J. Ben Snider. Interment followed in the Rowlett cemetery.
Born in Hart county, Kentucky the deceased came to Texas twenty-three years ago, settling in Kaufman county. Later he came to Collin county living near Frisco. In 1915, he moved to McKinney where he had since resided. He was a man of highest integrity, a cheerful disposition and popular where he was known.
J. W. Greer was married in December, 1885, to Miss Nancy Kidd in Green county, Ky, who survives him. Besides his wife, he is survived by five children, as follows: Robert C. Greer, of McKinney; Mrs. J. H. Smithson of Sherman; and by Tom R., Mike H. and J. Dewey Greer, all of McKinney. One daughter, Mrs. John Day, preceded him to the grave, in 1914.
The deceased was a member of the Foote Baptist Church. His passing is deeply regretted by all those who knew him.
