Newspaper, Sept. 17, 1965
Willie Roy Howard, 65, was dead on arrival at Collin Memorial Hospital Thursday evening from injuries received when the dump truck which he was driving overturned.
The 1963 model Chevrolet truck was loaded with asphalt road material and was traveling north on U. S. Highway 75, 1.9 miles South of McKinney when the vehicle went out of control and overturned.
Highway Patrolman Sam Purtle, who is conducting the investigation, believes a right rear tire blew out as the possible cause. Harris-Horn emergency ambulance took the body to the hospital.

Howard was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church and past master of the local Masonic lodge. He was married Dec. 23, 1923, in McKinney to Miss Vinnie Self.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Paul Lawson, McKinney; Mrs. Billy Edwards, Garland; Mrs. J. A. Hackney, Jr., New Mexico; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Taylor, Mrs. Mae Bolding, McKinney; and six brothers, R. G., O. F., H. H., and V. W. Howard, McKinney; E. P. Howard, Junction and J. J. Howard, Sherman.
