Mrs. Amelia , who was 85 years old, October 10, last, died Monday, January 26, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Q. D. Hall at Colorado City, Texas, from the infirmities of old age. The deceased was a native of Kentucky in which state she was born October 10, 1839. At the age of about twelve or fourteen years, she came with her father, the late Dr. W. B. Hamilton of Old Mantua and later of Weston, who died in McKinney about eighteen years ago. Her husband was for several terms Justice of the Peace of the Weston precinct.
He and his wife resided in Jack county, Texas for several years during which period he served as county judge of that county. He was a highly respected citizen, Mason, and prominent member of the First Methodist church here when he died about eighteen years ago. Mrs. Adamson resided on West Erwin street with her daughter, Mrs. P. E. Denton in recent years. About four months ago she went to Colorado City to visit relatives where she passed away and where she was buried on January 27, by the side of the grave of a single daughter, Miss Lillie Adamson, who died out there a number of years ago. Mrs. Adamson was a member of the First Methodist church at McKinney for many years up to the time of her death.
She was also a member of the Eastern Star lodge of McKinney. She is survived by the following children: Eugene Adamson of McKinney, Judge Walter Adamson of Ranger, Texas; Clint Adamson of San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Q. D. Hall, Colorado City, Texas; Mrs. Harper, wife of Judge John Harper of El Paso, Texas; and Mrs. P. E. Denton of McKinney until recently but who now makes her home with her daughter, Mrs. Arnold, who with her husband recently purchased the Eld. R. C. Horn old homestead on which she resides in the Vineland community. She is also survived by about sixteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
One of her granddaughters is Miss Eula Harper of El Paso who went to Brazil several years ago as a missionary teacher and worker of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. She is still a Brazil missionary. The deceased was a sister of the late contractor John W. Hamilton of McKinney and of the late Henry Hamilton, pioneer McKinney nurseryman. She was also a sister of Mrs. Scott Allison, deceased of this city. Many relatives and old time acquaintances and friends of Mrs. Adamson will hear with sorrow of her death.
