Willie ( Bill) Marion, Allen business man, was killed instantly in a head-on collision about eight miles from Henderson at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.. Born January 2, 1902, near Melissa, a son of the late Will and Cornelia Trent Marion, he had resided in Collin County all his life and had made his home at Allen since he was two years old.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church at Allen. He and Mary Fondren were married January 22, 1922.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons: Talmadge Marion of Casper, Wyo., and James Doyle Marion at home; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Ray Hefner of San Diego, Calif., and Freddie Louise Marion at home; two brothers, Jim Marion of Allen, and Price Marion of Ada, Okla.; seven sisters, Mrs. Ed. Cain of Allen, Mrs. Raymond Woods of Sanger, Mrs. __ Strrickland of McKinney, Mrs. Merv Malone of Dallas, Mrs. Jess Crowder of Wheeler, Mrs. Troy Scalf of McKinney and Mrs Lloyd LaFollett of McKinney; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents two children preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at Allen Baptist Church, Sunday afternoon. Interment was in Pecan Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Hubert Drumwright, pastor, and the Rev. E. B. Jackson of Garland officiated. Serving as pallbearers were Will Henry Brown, Shaffer Jones, E. L. Leach, W. H. Moseley, Ernest Shelghren, Jesse Dugger, Jack Curtis and Carl Marion. Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
