COLLIN McKINNEY’S OLDEST LIVING DESCENDANT DIES

Helen Stinnett had been Collin McKinney’s oldest living descendant when she died at age 89 on Aug. 30.
That leaves Clara Reddell, who will be 90 on Jan. 30, as the oldest descendant of the man from whom this city and the county were named.
Reddell, descended from Collin McKinney’s first wife, Amy Moore McKinney, was born 10 days after Braswell, who was a descendant of McKinney’s second wife, Betsy Coleman McKinney.
William Coleman McKinney was a son of Betsy Coleman McKinney. His son, John William McKinney, had a daughter, Winnie Davis McKinney, who married Guy V. Stinnett. Braswell was the Stinnetts’ daughter. Ruth Stinnett Swann and Guy Davis Stinnett were her brother and sister.
Ashley McKinney was a son of Amy Moore McKinney. He had a son, Daniel Leak McKinney, whose son was John Bryce McKinney, Reddell’s father.
Reddell said she and her brother, Ridgell M. McKinney, 83, are the only members of her generation left from McKinney’s first family....
With Braswell’s death, part of the living memory of old McKinney and of Collin McKinney has passed away as well....
