Letter, 1966
...Walter Campbell Carruth of Lebanon, Tennessee, says his father & mother (Jim) J. S. and Mattie (Cooksey) Carruth lived out in the country from McKinney in the 1890s. His father died Nov 4, 1897. He was 5 years old.... He recalls a neighbor named Ollie Hall.... This Walter Campbell Carruth had 5 half brothers, Bill, Talbert, Bob and Jimmy and one drowned about 12 years old on the farm where they lived near McKinney.
Old preacher (Bob) R. C. Horn was a nephew of this J. S. Carruth - Horn’s mother was J. S. Carruth’s sister.
J. S. Carruth was also in the Confederate army, same company as R. C. Horn. Also my great uncle (Jerry W. George, b. 1845 - d 1865). [Note - No obituary listed for J. S. Carruth in McKinney papers.]
