LEE HOWELL STARTS NEW BRICK BUILDING NEAR KELLY SCHOOL
McKinney Daily Courier Gazette, March 21, 1924
The Kelly School house, located on the Weston Pike, four miles West of Anna, was the first brick country school house in Collin County. Now comes Lee Howell, who resides nearby, building the first brick building to that immediate section. The building is 25x50 feet and will have a concrete floor. Mr. Howell will occupy it as a store building.
This section of the county has as rich land as can be found in the county. The people are wide awake and progressive. They have there a two teacher school with an eight month term. Miss Taylor of Melissa and Miss Sportsman of McKinney are the teachers. Miss Taylor is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Taylor of Melissa. Miss Sportsman is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Sportsman of McKinney.
