Funeral services were held today for Olen C. Hamby, 70, of Prosper, who died Wednesday in a McKinney Hospital, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Chapel.
Rev. F. K. Mullendore officiated and interment was at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
He was born Feb. 26, 1911 in Georgia to the late Charles and Maud Searcy. A retired supervisor for Titches and a farmer, Hamby was a member of the Baptist faith.
He married Elise Peterman on Oct. 27, 1933 in Durant, OK.
Survivors include his wife of Prosper; four sons, Charles Hamby of Allen, Larry and Harold Hamby of Prosper, and Woodrow Hamby of Frisco; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Bob Price of Plano and Mrs. David Nichles of Denton; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild; five brothers, Otis Hamby of Lake Dallas, A. T. Hamby of Irving, C. C. Hamby of Keller, Milton Hamby of Black Mountain, North Carolina, and David Hamby of Charleston, South Carolina; one step-mother, Mrs. Helen Hamby of Black Mountain; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Jackson of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Helen Woody of Bodfish, Calif.
