February 13, 1936 ....Robert H. Brown, born in Tazewell County, Virginia, May 28, 1827, came with his parents from Missouri in 1845. Crossed Red River, at old Ft. Warren, Fannin County, a few miles north of Bonham, December 18 1845. His parents John D. Brown, a son of Lon Brown, who served with George Roger Clark, in Revolution, and was present when Clark captured Vincennes, now in the State of Indiana. His mother was Rebecca Pearis, whose father was Col. George Pearis, and fought under Gen. Greene in War of Revolution. Col. Pearis was wounded in the retreat of the American Army at Yadkind River in Carolina. Robert H. Brown married Elizabeth Russell on January 2, 1850. Began making his log cabin home on Rowlett Creek—later located the balance of his head-right Certificate on Spring Creek, about three miles northwest of the present town of Plano.
Hogan Witt and Robert H. Brown joined Capt. Andrew Stapp's Company of Rangers at old Buckner on July 24, 1846. Later this company were mustered into the U. S. Army and designated "Texas Mounted Volunteers." Witt was then 24 years old and Brown 20.
