S. H. GUFFEE AND FAMILY HERE FOR BIG PICNIC
Daily Courier-Gazette, July 29, 1923
S. H. Guffee, wife and daughter, Miss Bonnie Lee, of Bells, Texas, arrived Monday to visit relatives and friends at Princeton and in McKinney and to remain here until after the big picnic and reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Guffee lived in the Princeton community for twenty-three years prior to moving to Bells, eight years ago. He was a tenant for twelve years on a part of the Mrs. Church land near Princeton and for eleven years lived on his own well-improved little farm in the same community which he sold and invested in a farm near Bells. He stated that he had some rain in his section of Grayson county in the early part of this month which we did not get here at McKinney. He and his wife and daughter are visiting Mrs. Guffee’s sister, Mrs. S. I. Campbell at Princeton and husband, who is the county commissioner from that precinct. They will also visit his wife’s brother, John Cullum and family, at Farmersville, and also visit at the home of Mrs. Alice Taylor, district clerk of Collin county, at the latter’s home in this city.
Mr. Guffey [sic] is a fine fellow socially and as a citizen. He is in favor of the big good roads bond issue pending in his county and hopes of course, for its success at the polls.
