ELM SALOON

The Elm Saloon was established at the corner of East Virginia Street and the Houston and Texas Central right-of-way in 1883 in a two-story frame building moved from the east side of the square to make room for a brick building. By 1892, a stone building had been erected on the site, and it was given the popular name of “The Rock Saloon.” With the passing of time, it became known as “The Old Rock Saloon.”....
The Elm Saloon closed when the people of Collin County voted for prohibition on March 8, 1902; but the stone walls of the “Old Rock Saloon” still stand, totally enclosed in brick buildings at 346 and 350 East Virginia Street.

LOCAL LANDMARK KNOWN VARIOUSLY
AS THE ELM SALOON, ROCK FRONT
SALOON, AND OLD ROCK SALOON. THE
SALOON WAS CLOSED IN 1902.
