DEATH OF PIONEER FARMERSVILLE CITIZEN

Jim W. Howard, Sr., a native of Collin county, and one of the last of the Confederate veterans of Farmersville died at the home of his son west of town on Monday, May 4, 1925 of heart failure.
Deceased was born in Murray county, Tenn., March 29, 1843 and came to Texas in Nov. 1857.
He enlisted in the Confederate army at the age of 19 and served throughout the war, receiving an honorable discharge.
He was married to Miss Sadie Glass in 1868 and to this union four children survives, together with two step children, Jim Howard of Farmersville, Mrs. Mary Chapman of Spring Hill and Mrs. G. D. Chapman of Bonham.
He was a member of the Baptist church, and a mason, cherishing and defending the principles taught by them, but on account of feeble health in his declining years, he was not often able to attend the services, but was ever present in Spirit.
He is survived by three brothers, Dee Howard of Holdenville, Oklahoma, L. A. Howard and J. T. Howard of Farmersville, and one sister, Mrs. W. T. Boulware of Cleburne.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Wednesday morning at 10:30, conducted by Rev. Mansfield of Greenville, assisted by Rev. K. L. Chapman.
Interment was made at Rock Quarry cemetery, under the auspices of Masonic Lodge.– Farmersville Times.
