William Franklin Baldridge, Sr., b. 4 Apr 1809, NC; d. 31 May 1891, Collin Co., TX; bur Pioneer Cemetery, Plano, TX; m. (1) Elizabeth Caroline Mitchell ca. 1831., Giles Co., TN, 11 ch; (2) Dorcas H. McDonald, 22 Aug 1867, Madison Co., AL, no ch.
William Baldridge was the son of Alexander Baldridge, Jr. and Jane Bickley (Beckley) Baldridge. About 1810 he moved with his family from NC to Maury Co., TN. About 1831, Wi1liam married Elizabeth Caroline Mitchell, daughter of James Mitchell of Cornersville, TN. They lived in Perry Co.,TN and in Lauderdale Co., AL before settling in Madison Co., AL near Huntsville in 1854. The following year William established one of the first fruit nurseries in that region. Elizabeth died 19 Mar 1866, and the following year William married Dorcas McDonald. He was almost 70 years of age when he and Dorcas moved to Plano in 1878 along with two of his children. William bought land in the Joseph Klepper survey and also purchased several lots in the City Cemetery, now known as Plano Pioneer Cemetery. He and Dorcas were devout Methodists and undoubtedly belonged to the church that was located in that part of town. Four of William’s children - Henry Baldridge, Pamela (Mrs. John H. ) Reedy, Mollie (Mrs. John R.) Abernathy, and Elizabeth (Mrs. Wm.) Ramsey came to Plano in the 1870's and 80's. After William died in 1891, Dorcas stayed on in Plano until her death in 1909. Her sister, Sarah McDonald lived with Dorcas until her death in 1902. They are both buried in Plano Pioneer Cemetery.
The following are the 11 children of William Franklin and Elizabeth Caroline Baldridge:
1.) Milton Columbus - b. 12 May 1832, TN; d. 9 Jan 1895, Huntsville, Madison Co., AL; m (1) Narcissa C. Neely, 7 ch; (2) Ella M. Johnson, 2 ch. Milton was a prominent physician in Huntsville and served as president of the AL State Medical Soc. in 1889.

3.) Jane C. - b. 25 Nov 1837; d. 16 Jun 1858, Madison Co., AL
4.) Virginia Caroline - b. Mar 1840; d. 6 May 1912, Nashville, TN; m. William Thomas Price 7 Aug 1856; 6 ch; lived many years in Lauderdale Co., AL before moving to TN.
5.) Mary (Mollie) A. - b. Mar 1841, TN; d. 22 Dec 1921, Tarrant Co. TX; bur Plano Pioneer Cem ; m. John R. Abernathy 17 May 1860, Madison Co., AL. The Abernathys lived in Lincoln Co., TN before coming to Plano in 1880. J. R. Abernathy was a Methodist minister, but went into the lumber business after coming to Plano. He served as Justice of the Peace of his precinct and was a City Alderman for several terms. He and his sons were builders and carpenters, and they built many homes in the Plano area. John and Mollie had the following 5 children:
a.) May V. - b. Feb 1861; d. 30 May 1949, Tarrant Co., TX; m. C. C. Leatherwood 22 Sep 1878, Lincoln Co., TN. Lived in Ft. Worth and had several ch.
b.) John Robert, Jr. - b. 1863, TN; d. 19 May 1931 Collin Co, TX bur Mutual Cem; m. Adelia White 25 Mar 1885, Dallas TX lived in Plano and worked as a building contractor.
c.) James H. - b. 1864, TN; d. 24 Aug 1905, Plano, TX bur Pioneer Cem. m. Laura A. Lewis 31 Aug 1892, Plano, TX; 3 ch.
d.) Pearl - b. ca 1876; d. 17 May 1920, Dallas, TX; m. Tom Stephenson; no ch.
e.) Homer Lowery - b. Nov 1882; d. 13 May 1965, Dallas, TX; m Josephine Carter 7 Feb 1906, Plano, TX. Was a builder and lived in Dallas. One son, Homer D. of Ft. Worth.
6.) John C. - b. ca 1843, AL; d. in Civil War at the Battle of Shiloh
7.) William Franklin, Jr. - b. 12 Mar 1846, Lauderdale CO., AL; d. 17 Dec 1911, Bexar Co., TX; bur Plano Pioneer Cem; m. - Julia Ann Landman 25 May 1869, Madison Co., AL; 7 ch. This family came to Dallas, TX in 1892. William and Julia are both bur in Plano but never lived there.
8.) Pamela R. - b. Mar 1849, AL; d. 31 Jan 1909, Georgetown, Williamson Co.,TX; m. John H. Reedy 20 Nov 1867, Madison Co., AL. This family came to Plano ca 1876, bought a store downtown in 1878 which went out of business two years later. John Reedy served as Constable of Collin Co. for several years. They moved from Plano to Dallas in the early 1900's. The following are the 4 children of Pamela and John Reedy:
a.) Milton Frank - b. 23 Mar 1873, Madison Co., AL; d. 10 Apr 1947, Dallas, TX; m. LeClaire Yeargin Ca. 1907; 2 ch. He lived in Dallas and helped to found S M.U. He owned a travel agency and was a noted naturalist and lecturer.
b.) Carrie - b. Mar 1876, Plano, TX
c.) John H., Jr. - b. May 1878, Plano TX; became a college professor; taught SMU. and the U. of Illinois.
d.) Estelle - b. Mar 1882, Plano, TX; graduated from Coronal Institute, San Marcos, TX; taught music
9.) Elizabeth (Lizzie) - b. Apr 1852, AL; d. 4 Sep 1930, Ft. Worth, TX. m. (1) James F. Byers 10 Dec 1873, TN;

Lizzie was widowed in TN by 1880 and moved her family to Plano. She married William Ramsey in Plano on 24 Sep 1885. They lived in Plano until 1904 when they moved to Ft. Worth. William and Lizzie had one daughter:
a.) Laura - b. Sep 1886, Plano, TX; mar. Jesse Buckley 28 Apr 1910, Ft. Worth, TX.
10.) Henry B. - b. 11 Aug 1855, AL; d. 14 Feb 1888, McKinney, TX. Mar. Lula May Coffer 21 May 1878, Collin Co., TX. Henry owned a business in Plano in the 1870's and was a City Councilman in 1882. He later moved to McKinney and was living there when he died. His wife moved back to Plano after Henry’s death and remained there until her death in 1927. She is buried in Mutual Cemetery.
Henry and Lou Baldridge had the following 4 children:
a.) Henry Clifford - b. 5 Nov 1880, Plano, TX; d. 10 Apr 1964, Arlington, TX; mar. Grace Kautz (or Kantz) 8 Sep 1917, Dallas, TX. No children. Henry worked for A. Harris & Co. in Dallas for many years. He and Grace are bur. in Mutual Cemetery, Plano.
b.) Kate Cecelia - b. 25 Oct 1883, Plano, TX; d. 14 Oct 1962, Dallas, TX bur. Mutual Cemetery, Plano. Married to Ernest Lyon and had one son, Henry R.
c.) Ruby Mae - b. Sep 1885, Plano, TX: d. 29 Jun 1932, Vernon, Willbarger Co., TX. Mar. Adam E. Johnson, 25 Apr 1907, Collin Co., TX. They 1ived in Estelline and Vernon, TX, and had four children.
d.) Percy B. - b. 17 Oct 1888, Plano, TX; d. 21 Apr 1977, Big Spring, Howard Co., TX. Mar. Ina Lee Sessions ca. 1932; no children. Percy 1ived in Plano until about 1931 working in the mercantile business. He 1ived in Dallas before moving to Big Spring in the 1940's.
11.) Thomas Oscar - b. 27 Jul 1858, AL; d. 10 Jan 1860, Madison Co., AL; he died of Cholera.

William F. Baldridge, Sr., died last week at Plano, Texas, aged eighty two years. He moved there eleven years ago from Lauderdale county, Alabama. He was the father of Dr. M. C. and Captain W. F. Baldridge of Huntsville.
