VAN ALSTYNE MAN CELEBRATES 90TH BIRTHDAY AT HOME

R. M. Cannon, veteran and honored Van Alstyne resident, celebrated his 90th birthday last Sunday. His daughter, Mrs. John Umphress, with whom he makes his home, cooked a tempting dinner for the happy occasion which was attended by members of the immediate family.
He is one of the largest landholders in the section around Van Alstyne and has lived there for more than 70 years, being one of the oldest pioneer settlers in that part of Grayson county. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge, being the oldest member both in years and in length of membership of Mantua Lodge, No. 209, A. F. & A. M.
This honored old pioneer citizen is a veteran of the war between the states, serving four years during that struggle for the Confederacy.
