McKinney Courier-Gazette, October 31, 1922
Bomar’s Chapel is the name of the new Methodist church building to be erected in the Viney Grove community, seven miles northeast of McKinney. S. J. Bomar, who was born there and has always lived in that community, gave one acre of land to the new church. The church will be named in his honor.
Mr. Bomar is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Bomar, pioneer settlers of that community, and his home is located about one-half mile south of the old home place. Mr. and Mrs. Bomar and children are loyal Methodists.
Work on the new building is expected to commence in the course of a few weeks. The Methodist church was organized there last summer following a revival meeting conducted by Rev. J. R. Jordan of Princeton. The new church organization has over fifty members already....
The new church will be just a hundred or so yards north of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Bomar’s home.
