ALVA EDWIN BUFORD

....According to the records I have, my grandfather [Alva Edwin Buford] was born in February 13, 1886, in Collin County.... It is possible that he was born in Van Alstyne, Texas. He married Ida Ruth Degman, born in Weston, in Collin County, on March 7, 1900. The date of marriage was October 23, 1916 in Van Alstyne, Texas. Alva, or Alvie, died September 16, 1939 or 40 in Van Alstyne. His parents names are Edwin Newton Buford and his mother Martha, or “Mattie,” Nichols. Ida Ruth Degman’s parents were George Washington Degman and Salina Francis Rogers.
Alva and Edwin Buford are buried in the Van Alstyne Cemetery. Edwin died in 1887, a year after Alva was born.
