Henry McCollough migrated to the Peters Colony before 1845. He received a 640-acre head right in the Colony in Denton County. Henry was from South Carolina. He and Mary were listed in the 1840 census.
Mary was a daughter of Michael and Hannah Miller Shaffer. They were listed in the 1850 census in Collin County with their children Mary, A., James, Francis, and Nancy. Henry is listed as a blacksmith. The name was spelled McCuller.
Mary McCollough was the mother-in-law of William Sachse, who donated the land for the town of Sachse, Texas. Her daughter Elizabeth was married to William Sachse in 1854. She died in 1852. No grave has been found for Elizabeth. Supposedly the first person buried in the Sachse Cemetery was William Sachse, who died in 1899.
