S. L. Harrington
S. L. HARRINGTON BORN 80 YEARS AGO NEAR PLANO.
Newspaper, 1936.
One of South Collin’s most estimable old citizens, S. L. Harrington of Plano, was attending to business matters in McKinney this week. He was born April 29, 1851, on the farm of his father, Alfred Harrington, just north of Plano. He is therefore, nearing his 85th birthday, being one of the oldest native-born citizens at present surviving in our county.
His father and the latter’s brother, Silas Harrington, settled near Plano in 1848, or 84 years ago.
Mr. Harrington was accompanied to McKinney by his son, Fred Harrington. The latter has one of the best improved farms in the county, located just west of Plano, on which there is a magnificent brick residence, provided with all the modern conveniences such as are usually to be found only in city homes. S. L. Harrington, his father, has always lived on the farm, and made a success at that calling and stock raising, being at one time one of the largest taxpayers in the county, before dividing up much of his property among his children and grandchildren a few years ago.
