This cemetery was started during a smallpox epidemic in May of 1895. The whole area was quarantined from Coit Road to Preston Road and from Park Blvd. to Spring Creek Parkway. A traveling salesman spent the night at the Collinsworth home. The little girls who changed his sheets the next day caught smallpox. The doctor gave the family incorrect advice about what to do for treatment. The day of the funeral was dark and damp. Several of the Collinsworth relatives caught smallpox at the funeral. About 15 members of their family died in the epidemic. The cemetery was used until about 1920. The cemetery was deeded in Vol 181, p 11, with .22 acres set aside.
