Gracie Carpenter
Funeral services for Gracie Lee Carpenter, 79, formerly of Princeton, who died Saturday at DFW Medical Center in Grand Prairie, were held at 3;30 p.m. Monday in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with the Revs. Robert Durr, R. B. Ring and O. E. Lofton officiating. The grandchildren rendered the music. Interment was in Pecan Grove Cemetery with Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in charge of the services.
She was born July 23, 1907 in Waxahachie, the daughter of Jonah and Virgie Gibbs.
Mrs. Carpenter was a housewife and a member of the Bible Missionary Church.
Survivors include her sons: Nathan Carpenter of McKinney, Rev. Roy Carpenter of Jacksboro, Bobby and J. C. Carpenter, both of Lewisville; five daughters: Mildred Wise of Roanoke, Helen Hickman and Della Courtney, both of Houston, Myrtle Rogers of Garland, Frances Barfield of The Colony; three sisters: Mae Boyd and Eddie Fowler, both of Houston, Dorothy Schwinn of Port Arthur; two brothers: Omar Gibbs and Jack Gibbs, both of Houston; 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband. M. D. Carpenter, son, Henry Carpenter; grandson, Ronald Rogers; two brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers were: Billy, Jackie, and Jaroy Carpenter, Jerry Wayne Wisdom, John Michael Barfield, and Danny Courtney.
