Funeral services for Willis Barron (Bill) Chapman, who died Thursday in a Dallas hospital, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Jerome Crane Funeral Home, Northwest Hwy and Abrams, Dallas. Interment will be in the Calvary Hill Cemetery, Dallas.
He was born Apr. 2, 1922 in Prosper, the son of Bartow and Jessie Davidson Chapman. He attended McKinney public schools, where he was an all-state athlete, graduating from high school in 1941. he attended North Texas State University, Austin College, and Baylor University.
Most of his life was spent in Professional baseball as player, manager and umpire. He umpired in Texas and Mexican leagues. He was associated with G&G Concessions.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; two sons, Bill Chapman of Ennis, Charles Chapman of Dallas; one daughter, Margaret Porter; four grandchildren; three brothers, Donald Chapman of Houston, Gene Chapman of Dallas, Charles Thomas Chapman of Tallahassee, Fla.
