RALPH C. BOYER
Story sent by Mr. Boyer
Ralph C. Boyer, banker of Prosper, is descended of pioneers reaching back to the early l700s when the family fled England because of the persecution the French Huguenots were undergoing in all England at that time. After reaching America, they ran into more trouble. In migrating from eastern Pennsylvania westward, one ancestor was killed by hostile Indians and his children were taken captive. One daughter became the wife of a Chief in Ontario, Canada during the French and Indian War. The first of the family to come was Andrea Beyer and his family (three sons). (The spelling of the name changed to Boyer later). Their names appear in the Pennsylvania Archives and on the Ship’s register. (He might have brought his wife and daughters, but they are not recorded.) He prospered in the new land and at his death left each of his six children 80 acres of rich land that he had cleared of the forests it once was.
Ralph C. Boyer was born in Shelby County, Ohio February 27, 1921, the son of Clyde L. Boyer and the grandson of John A. Boyer. George W. Boyer, his great-grandfather, was a veteran of the Civil War. He enlisted with the Ohio Volunteer Infantry in 1861 at age 14 years and served until 1865[in the Armies in Tenn., Miss. and Georgia.]
My Great Great Grandfather was Samuel Fisher Boyer and my Great Great Great Grandfather was Fisher Boyer who migrated to Ohio from Penna. around 1810 and settled in or near the area in Shelby County, Ohio where I came from. The ancestors of Fisher Boyer came to America in the early 1700's from England; they were French Huguenots of German ancestry and left England under persecution. Ralph Boyer is married to Mary Lynn Boyer ( Nesbitt) and has a daughter Julie Ann Boyer Vest and a son, John P. Boyer. Ralph Boyer was in automotive industry from 1938 to 1941, then joined the Air Force in December of that year. He served as a Pilot, Navigator, and Bombardier until October 1945.
After being discharged from the Air Force, he married and went to work in the Prosper State Bank in February 1947 and has been in the bank since then. He is a Methodist and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
