SMITH CEMETERY - NEVADA
CR601
CR601
This cemetery is 70' square surrounded by a 4-foot chain-link fence. There are a few cedar trees in the cemetery that are in bad condition. At the time of my visit, there was a bee hive or hornet's nest in one of the cedar trees. The bees were swarming but did not attack. The deeds for this cemetery are listed in Vol 340, p 526, and Vol 596, p 595. The cemetery is the 70' exemption.
This cemetery is neglected. Most of the stones are standing. The wrought-iron fence for the Smith plot has only 2 sides. The whole cemetery needs cleaning.
A follow-up visit on August 29 showed that the grass was shoulder high. The bee hive was gone.
This cemetery was cleaned by Boy Scouts on 9/25/93. The man who owns the surrounding land let them dump the debris on his land on a creek bank. He says he will try to keep the grass under control with weed killer. I understand that there are no longer Smith relatives in the area.
