Eighty Kinsmen and Friends Gather at McDonald Home for Gala Day
Eighty persons representing relatives and friends of the Marriott family of South Collin county, gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. McDonald, three miles North of Wylie in a reunion Sunday. A long table was placed under big shade trees in the McDonald yard and every conceivable food and delicacy graced the festive board around which the large assembly gathered.
Survivors of the Marriott family consists of three daughters and four sons -- Mrs. A. W. McDonald, Mrs. T. W. Massey, Murphy; Mrs. J. Wesley Smith of Dump, Lee Marriott, Clearlake; James Marriott, Campbell; Eph Marriott, Denison, and Gabe Marriott.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. A. W. McDonald, Wylie; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Marriott and daughter, Katherine, Clearlake, Mr. and Mr.s Stephen Marriott and three children, Clearlake; Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Marriott and baby, Clearlake; Mrs. J. Wesley Smith, Dump; Frank Anderson and son, Jewel, Wylie; Mr. and Mrs. Bud Smith and family, Dump; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Morris and family, Dump; Misses Edith and Kate Brown, Wylie; Rev. and Mrs. J. Wesley Smith, Jr., and daughter, Marshall; Mr. and Mrs. James Marriott and daughter, Nellie, Campbell; Mr. and Mrs. Grady Smith and family, Sulphur Springs; Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Marriott and family, Rhea, Velda and Tressle, Denton; Mr. and Mrs. Wylie Cox and family, Ponder; Mr. and Mrs. Eph Marriott, Denton; Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Massey and family, Homer, Ernest Elmer, Gabe and Eva, Murphy; Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Massey and son, Murphy; Rev. J. Ben Snider, McKinney; Mr. and Mrs. H. A. L. Greenwood, McKinney; Dr. T. O. Staples, Wylie, Dallas Pharr, Lucas; Dr. Ethel Morrow, Lucas; Mr. and Mrs. J. W. McDonald, and family, Wylie; Mr. and Mrs. Will Addington and family, Clearlake.
The Marriott family is a pioneer one in South Collin county and there are scores of its descendants still living there and in other portions of this county and the State.
The McDonald home at which the reunion was held is a typical old Southern home, supplied with all the modern conveniences available to the average country home and is truly a hospitable place, radiating the warmth of cordial hospitality always extended to every visitor, whether he or she may be a close friend or merely a stranger within their gates.
