Forbes
E. C. FORBES, Carrier R. 3, Anna
Weekly Democrat Gazette, February 21, 1912.
Edward C. Forbes, carrier on Route 3 out of Anna, was born in Pettis county, Mo., forty eight years ago. Came to Texas in 1891, followed farming and teaching until Dec. 1, 1906 when he was appointed Rural letter carrier on the above named route, vice J. T. Hood resigned. Has not missed a trip on account of sickness and has not failed to make but two trips in the five years except when on annual leave.
Length of route 27.18 miles, handles from six to eight thousand pieces of mail per month, uses a motorcycle in dry weather and a “light runner” mail wagon in bad weather. Has 150 boxes and serves about 200 families. Route 3 goes east out of Anna on the Blue Ridge road and come in from the south on the McKinney road. The roads on this route are above the average for the black land section. The route serves patrons who formerly were patrons of the discontinued post offices of Rhymer, Donna, Valdasta and Chambliss.
All of these communities are composed of progressive and highly moral citizens that cannot be excelled by those of any other section of grand old Collin.
Mr. Forbes takes and active interest in the Collin County Rural Letter Carriers Association and is at present president of that organization.
