Cemeteries in Collin County, Texas
Collin County has over 150 cemeteries, some very small and some quite large.
Between 1900 and 1910, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows started cemeteries in Allen, Blue Ridge, Farmersville, Nevada, and Princeton. The Farmersville Cemetery is still affiliated with the IOOF.
Collin County is the final resting place of soldiers who fought in several of America's wars.
John Abston fought in the Revolutionary War and is buried in Abston Cemetery.
Charles C. Stibbens, who fought for Texas' independence from Mexico at the Battle of San Jacinto on 21 April 1836, is buried at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
Historical markers honor both of these soldiers.
Also buried in Collin County are veterans of the War of 1812, the Black Hawk War, the Civil War, and all of the more recent wars.
