Emmitt Murphy
Final rites were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Fielder-Baker Chapel for Emmitt Murphy, 90, father of the late war hero-movie actor Audie L. Murphy.
Mr. Murphy died Monday in the Hinton Home, where he had resided for several years.
The services were conducted by Mr. Harold Murphy and the Rev. Peck Williams, and interment was in Ridgeview Memorial Park at McKinney.
A retired farmer, Mr. Murphy was born Feb. 20, 1886, in Williamson, Tex.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Corinne Burns of Grand Prairie, Mrs. Nadine Murphy of Princeton, Mrs. Billie Bonner of Dallas and Mrs. June Van Cleave of Floydada; two sons, Charles Murphy of McKinney and Gene Murphy of Dallas, and 22 grandchildren. His son, Audie, the most decorated American soldier in World War II, died in an airplane crash in the spring of 1971.
