LINDSAY, NELSON PORTER
Letter. ...My husband’s grandfather was Nelson Porter Lindsay who came from Burke Co., N. C. April 2, 1877, and lived at Fayburg. he has descendants in Farmersville and Dallas - the Neathery - Wylie - Lindsay - Aycock families, but know so little of their ancestor. Nelson Porter Lindsay’s daughter, Mrs. Hattie Wylie told me they attended a little Mormon Church awhile - then went into another church. She mentioned they went to church at Blue Ridge ... and Snow Hill. I have names of the entire 1st generation and most of their children but they know nothing of these churches. ... Mr. Lindsay served in the Confederate Forces and I have sent for the pension record of his wife Jane E. (Fewell) Lindsay – which I finally found in Austin,Tex.... (I have a fine picture of the old Lindsay home at Fayburg – it had a big breeze way – & the father - mother - & 4 of the children are in the picture – taken about 1885 to 1887.) |
