FUNERAL RITES FOR ALEX BURKS HELD TUESDAY

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Crouch-Moore Funeral Chapel for Alex Ware Burks, 68, widely known North Texas peace officer who passed away Monday in the Veterans hospital at Lisbon.
Rev. Earl Rogers officiated and interment was in Pecan Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jimmie Kitchen, J. H. Kitching, T. E. Sanders, E. G. Cole, Grady McMahan, Carl Rowland and V. L. West.
He was a long-time resident of McKinney, being the son of the late Sam and Ina Ware Burks. He was a member of the First Christian church and throughout his lifetime had been an active police officer, having served as Chief of Police in McKinney. He was with the Dallas Police Department for several years before his retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethelyn Burks and a sister, Miss Nell Burks, both of McKinney.
