In 1895 the Thompson School District #73 was divided into Snow Hill School #73, Fayburg School #142, and Water Ridge School #141.
The petition of W. E. Smith and 82 others granted praying for a change in the north one of Water Ridge school district No. 141 so as to run with south line of B. W. Jeffcoats land and west to Pilot Grove creek. All north of this line was made a part of Show Hill district No. 73.
The teachers at Water Ridge School included Miss Mattylee Childress in 1901; Miss Lucy Bailey in 1903; J. M. Harden in 1905; Miss Pearl Curts in 1907; Miss Fredia Egger in 1914; and N. D. Wall in 1916.
There were 10 male and 11 female students in 1909 and 29 students in 1912.
In 1905 all of the voters of Water Ridge School district voted for the special tax of 20 cents on the $199 worth of property to aid in erecting a school building which was needed very much.
Water Ridge School closed in April 1915 under the management of Miss Frieda Egger a five month’s session with the following program: Ball playing among the pupils was the exercise during the morning. Nevertheless, patrons brought lunch baskets, and near the noon hour dinner was spread by the ladies on a long table in the school building. Following the noon hour Rev. R. P. Rampy of near Nevada entertained the audience with a very interesting address. Rev. J. B. Willbanks of Blue Ridge next made a short talk. Then, Rev. J. W. Baughmon of Blue Ridge took the floor and entertained the audience with a very excellent address, following which was a reading by Mrs. J. W. Baughmon. The closing and farewell address was delivered by the teacher. One of the most pleasant days in many was spent by the pupils of the district in the closing of this school.
The County Superintendent of schools said this about Water Ridge School in 1918:
“Water Ridge school has an enrollment of 31 with the work progressing nicely and attendance regular. The house needs some improvement and equipment. We hope at some day not far in the future to see this and other schools around it consolidate for better schools. This can be done and not to harm any community but instead to benefit each school to uniting. This section offers a fine opportunity for some real school work along such lines. Mrs. Gertrude Resser Boyd is teaching and is enjoying the work and the children are anxious to do some good work.”
Around 1920 a survey was being made for a hard surface road that would connect Farmersville and Blue Ridge. The citizens expressed their desire to build a new school near it. Water Ridge School #141 consolidated with Fayburg School #142 and Snow Hill to form Snow Hill District #73.
