Tickey Creek starts northeast of New Hope and runs through Princeton to empty into Lake Lavon west of Culleoka.
The Tickey School was opened about 1900 near the west bank of Tickey Creek near the community of Branch.
The teachers at Tickey School included J. C. Allen in 1901 and Miss Lillian Kendall in 1905. There were 15 male students and 19 female students in 1909 and 53 in 1912. In March of 1912 Tickey district voted to have single desks seating in the school.
An ice cream supper was given at the Branch School House Friday night, July 26, 1912. The proceeds went toward replacing property destroyed by the recent storm in that section of the county. Tickey School and Grassy Lake School combined around 1915 to form the Branch School District.
