The Squeezepenny school was located 5 miles northeast of McKinney. Mr. Lindsey was the teacher in 1857. The building burned the following year.
The community of Squeezepenny started in 1855. William Hampton came to the area and started a mill at Stiff Chapel. It got its name from Bill Harris’ habit of being extremely careful to get his toll of the corn, which he ground at the ox-tred mill.
